DAY 1 Arrive La Paz

Your representative will be waiting to pick you up at the airport and drop you off at your hotel to settle in ready for the following day’s exploring. Your overnight stay includes breakfast.

DAY 2 Explore La Paz

Begin exploring the fascinating mix of cultures in Bolivia through a walk in the country’s capital, La Paz. Whilst similarities exist with their Andean neighbour Peru, Bolivia is a hybrid of pre-incan and European traditions, with a heavy indigenous influence, which you can observe from the ‘cholitas’ (Bolivian women who still walk around in their traditional costume to this day.)Your tour will encompass the modern, Spanish and colonial influences seen in various edifices downtown but you will also learn more about the local superstitions and rituals as you visit the famous Witch Doctor’s Market. You can also sample the typical snack ‘osaltena’ (the Bolivian version of the popular empanada) and finish with a look a stop at the scenic but somewhat eerie ‘Moon Valley’ on the outskirts of the city. Your tour will be led by an exclusive English speaking guide. City tour (half day including snack)

DAY 3 La Paz on your terms

How would you like to discover La Paz and its surrounds today? You can choose to explore the remains of the mysterious of Tiwanaki by visiting the archeological site of this pre Incan civilisation. OR you can sail across the scenic Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world to explore Sun Island. OR discover the beauty of the sacred mountain of Illimani, that serves as La Paz’s scenic backdrop and the second tallest in Bolivia. OR you can take a day trip out to the Palka Canyon, to experience beautiful valleys and rock formations.

DAY 4 Journey to Sucre and explore the colonial city

Your pick up service will collect you early morning to take you to the airport with plenty of time for your flight to Sucre (included.) On arrival to Bolivia’s colonial jewel and original capital city, a guide will be waiting to guide you through the landmarks of picturesque Sucre. You will settle into your boutique hotel and prepare to continue exploring this city and surrounds. Your tour will include the Freedom historical museum, La Recoleta viewpoint and some of the city’s famous churches.

DAY 5 Sucre on your terms

This morning you will be picked up from your hotel for your journey to Potosi, famous for its silver mining. Explore this world heritage site that flourished during the silver mining boom, the facade of its churches and colonial architecture, the Casa de la Moneda museum and the famous local artisans market. DAY 6 Journey to explore Potosi

This morning you will be picked up from your hotel for your journey to Potosi, famous for its silver mining. Explore this world heritage site that flourished during the silver mining boom, the facade of its churches and colonial architecture, the Casa de la Moneda museum and the famous local artisans market.

DAY 7 Potosi on your terms

Today you can visit a colonial mine and learn about the traditional extracting process? OR you can head out to some nearby historic estates and admire these homesteads that have survived the independence and republican movements. OR you can observe the thermal lagoon of Tarapaya, said to hold spiritual links to the Inca civilisation.

DAY 8 Journey to Uyuni

Today you will be picked up for the 4 hour hour journey to Colchani on the shores of the Uyuni Salt Flat. On the way you will visit the village of Pulacayo and stop for a packed lunch before settling into your hotel for the evening.

DAY 9 Explore the Salt Flat

This morning you will explore this beautiful white expanse, learn about the unique ecosystem that thrives on this plain and stop of Incahuasi, home to immense cacti (measuring up to 12 metres tall. Enjoy a prepacked lunch and visit to the village of Coquesa, your base before your climb of the Tunupa Volcano and stop at the Chantani Museum. * Return to your hotel for dinner in the evening.
*There is better access to the salt flat during dry season (April to October) however pictures can be no less impressive during the rainy season because sometimes flooding on the plains can provide an amazing mirrored effect on the scenery. Access to the salt flat is at the discretion of your guides and in the case that access to the flat is not possible, you will visit the train cemetery and observe the salt extracting process.

DAY 10 Journey to and finish in La Paz.

This morning you will be collected and transferred to the airport in time for your flight to La Paz. (Included.) Tour ends.
