DAY 1 Arrive Lima

A representative will be waiting to greet you on arrival into Lima airport and promptly take you to settle in to your chosen hotel, ready for the following day’s exploring.

DAY 2 Explore Lima

Your first exploration of Lima will be led by your exclusive guide who will drive and walk you through the distinctly colonial and modern areas of the Peruvian Capital. The city is a great introduction to its culture and you will visit ... An added benefit will be to discover the sacred pyramid of Huacca Puclanna. Relax and enjoy the evening at your chosen hotel.

DAY 3 Lima on your terms

Today you can choose how to further explore the lively Peruvian capital from a range of excursions. Choices include absorbing yourself in the past by exploring the mysterious ruins of Pachamachac – the great Inca warrior and the accompanying archaeology museum, you taste and master the secrets of the gastronomic capital of South America in a cooking class, peruse through the extensive collection gold, silver and pottery collections at the Larco museum and enjoy lunch or dinner at its reknowned restaurant or take in the spectacle of Peruvian equestrian tradition with Paso horse display. DAY 4 Journey to Cuzco

Early today you will head to the airport for your flight to Cuzco. On arrival, your representative will take you to settle into your hotel in Cuzco so that you can start acclimatising to this high altitude region.

DAY 5 Cuzco on your terms

The Inca capital of Cuzco is a highlight in its own right. With buildings everywhere made of specially cut stone, cobblestone streets and alleyways infused with grand plazas and colonial architecture, the city is truly unique.

As ‘Your Day,’ you have the freedom to choose how best to discover this cultural jewel and home of a once powerful empire. You can take a half day tour of the city including the sun palace of Q’oricancha and outer ruins of Q’enko or choose to explore the city on your own and enjoy lunch or dinner at famous fusion tapas restaurant Cicciolina or MAP Cafe in the courtyard of the Precolumbian Art Museum (entrance not included.)

DAY 6 Sacred Valley on your terms

Another ‘Your Day’ to choose how to make the most of the neighbouring Sacred Valley of the Incas. You can choose to discover the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo as well as the ruins and neighbouring town of Pisac with its famous market, or head out to the impressive the salt pans of Moray, the ruins of Maras and stop at the authentic Andean village of Chincheros (market visits possible on Sundays,) or you can horseride to Ollantaytambo for different perspective of these ruins or even interact with a local community as part of the Awamaki social project.

This evening you will be briefed on what you will need to know for the next day’s trekking program.

DAY 7 Start your luxe mountain trek

Early this morning you will commence your once in a lifetime exploration of the mountains and valleys that will finish with exploring the magnificent ruins of Machu Picchu. Led by experienced English speaking guides, this is not your ordinary trek as you will hike through various significant mountain passes, scale altitudes of more than 12,000 feet high and travel through more than 15 different ecosystems all whilst relaxing and recovering at boutique lodges.

DAY 8 Mountain Trek Experience

This trek is a unique opportunity to experience the natural beauty of this mountainous region in its purest form. See the glaciers at Lake Huamantay, cross the reknowned Salkantay and Llactapata passes, explore the cloud forest and Santa Teresa valley and even experience community life in these remote regions as you visit the villages along this route. Accommodation in mountain lodges during trek and final night of trek at Inkaterra in Aguas Calientes.

DAY 13 Explore Machu Picchu and journey to Cuzco

Early this morning you head to the incredible archaeological site of Machu Picchu. Your guides will provide you with insight and context about the many theories surrounding the complex’s creation, uses and significance within Inca history. You will have the opportunity to climb Wayna Picchu (one of the most photographed mountains in Peru) for a unique perspective of the ruins from above. (Must be pre-booked.)

In the afternoon, you will travel by train and private vehicle back to Cuzco. Overnight.

DAY 14 Head to Lima to finish your journey.

This morning you will be transferred to the airport in time for your flight back to Cuzco. Tour ends.
